Kijiji alerts not working? Here is what to check

Kijiji can email you or notify you in its app when a new ad matches a saved search. When those alerts go quiet, these are the things to check — and how to add a second watcher that runs on your own computer and covers Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist at the same time.

Check these first

  1. The search is saved with alerts on. Kijiji alerts only for saved searches that have notifications enabled.
  2. Email alerts are reaching you. Check spam and promotions folders, and that the address on your Kijiji account is current.
  3. Your phone allows the Kijiji app to notify you. Check the phone's notification settings and any do-not-disturb schedule.
  4. The location and radius are right. A saved search keeps the area it was created with; a move or a wrong postal code silently empties it.

Why alerts still lag when everything is on

Kijiji decides when to send an alert and which ads qualify. Alerts cover Kijiji only, one search at a time, and arrive by email or in the Kijiji app. If you also watch Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, that is three notification systems to keep an eye on.
